Being a small archipelago located inconspicuously in the middle of the pacific ocean, just north of the equator, the AIA seems unimportant to many larger nations. To the likes of the United Federation, Dàguó, or East Lebatuck, the AIA is a small, unassuming group of quaint nations, however this does not change their interests in the natural resources, and strategic location of the archipelagic alliance. The AIA as a whole usually spends it's time trying to walk the line internationally, and avoid offending anyone. Inside the alliance however, different nations are divided on who is really their ally, and who is really their enemy. Provided here is a list of nations considered important to the AIA, although this view of importance is not always mutual.
The United Federation: A capitalistic, and libertarian nation, the United Federation's economic presence on the world stage is massive, although it's people seem to know little else about the world stage other than how important they are on it. The United Federation has been known to interfere in the affairs of other nations, especially nations which decide to pursue a socialist or communist system. The United Federation is well-liked by the more capitalistic members of the AIA, but despised by socialist, or anti-imperialist elements of the alliance, leading to the United Federation being one of the most controversial players on the world stage.
Blackacre: An oppressive, and authoritarian regime, Blackacre is known to the world as a hyper-militaristic power, with a taste for ultra-violetism, especially in their enemies. Blackacre is famed for it's environmental destruction, which leads to natural disasters within it's own boarders, and has lead to many foreign sanctions against them. None of this bad press seems to sway them, as they care little about what other nations think, and pursue a Blackacre-first policy of economic autarky, with high tariffs even before the sanctions were imposed upon them. Any criticism towards the nation, or especially against their leader, Valeria Drake, will result in her viciously attacking foreign leaders via her Twitcher account. Blackacre is rumored to have spies all over the AIA, however the reason why is unclear. In recent years, an uneasy alliance has formed between Blackacre, and the United Federation, in opposition to the rising power of Dàguó.
Dàguó: A rising star on the world's stage, Dàguó is an incredibly orderly nation, with a strong unity enforced among it's citizenry. This authoritarian nation is incredibly controversial within the AIA, as it is happy to aid poorer nations, and help lift it's allies out of poverty, however this comes at the price of sovereignty, as Dàguó is happy to meddle in the internal affairs of it's allies, to ensure that pro-Dàguó messages are conveyed in the every-day life of the nation. In modern times, Dàguó has been criticized for it's heavy censorship, and control over the media within it's own borders. Dàguó's rise is seen as a threat by the United Federation, and by Blackacre, who seek to contain it's influence as much as possible, fearing that it will replace them as the imperial hegemons of the world. Despite this, these nations are happy to trade with Dàguó, which is known for it's cheap mass-production of products, and incredibly high amounts of exports.
East Lebatuck: Historical rivals of the United Federation, and a past ally of Dàguó, the nation of East Lebatuck seemingly has passed it's peak, and is in a state of decline. A socialist nation, determined to spread it's ideals across the world, East Lebatuck rose to prominence in the past century, and for decades maintained itself as the face of socialism, and opposition to the United Federation, however these days seem to be behind it, as it takes a back seat on global affairs, and is rumored to be in a state of internal chaos, with fractures in the party. Some of the socialist nations within the AIA still consider East Lebatuck an ally against United Federation and Blackacrean Imperialism, however the days of their ability to stand up to these powers seem behind them. Despite this, East Lebatuck still maintains a space program, and is one of the more active international presences in the field of space science, and exploration.
Skandilund: A friendly social-democratic nation, Skandilund seems to do very little outside of it's part of the world, however it maintains happy, and friendly relations with most AIA members, and tries to be neutral in the international conflicts, but often favors the United Federation when push comes to shove.
Maxtopia: A large, and authoritarian nation, Maxtopia has a long and storied history of conflicts and wars, to the point where one may wonder how it's remained in one piece for so long. Maxtopia engages in trade with some of the members of the AIA, but is often too busy dealing with it's rivals to worry about the small island nations.
Bigtopia: A historic enemy of Maxtopia, although equally authoritarian. Bigtopia has been known as a brash, and harsh nation, which has lead to large amounts of stigma and racism being applied to the native population of Bigtopians. Bigtopia has large amounts of expats, and many face discrimination, either systematically, or socially, within their new nations.
Lilliputia: An unfortunate nation, engulfed by civil war between the government, and the Ultra-Violetists. Years ago, Lilliputia was the stage for proxy-wars between the United Federation, and East Lebatuck. The United Federation, and it's ally of Blackacre, funded Ultra-Violetist paramilitary organizations, in order to overthrow the East Lebatuckese-imposed socialist government. Now, decades later, the nation is still torn between secular government forces, and Ultra-Violetist rebels. The government has also been accused of the mistreatment of Bigtopian refugees within it's borders. The AIA has little contact with the government, as at times it is unclear who the government actually is.
Tasmania: A largely small player on the world stage due to inner turmoil, the Tasmanian state is plagued by terrorism, and civil unrest. They have little to no diplomacy with other nations, due to inability to stabilize their own domestic policy.
Brasilistan: A nation which produces large amounts of diamonds, but unfortunately is a militant dictatorship, which engages in slave labor to operate it's diamond mines. Brasilistan is looked down upon harshly by the international community, however little is done about their exploits, as they produce so many diamonds for more wealthy nations.
Brancaland: A nation boarding the United Federation, and Blackacre. Though an ally of the United Federation, Brancaland is much more left leaning, and inclined to socially democratic policies. Brancaland is also highly multicultural, known for being officially bilingual.
Marche Noir: Formerly an autocratic monarchy, Marche Noir recently had a revolution, in which the monarchy was overthrown, and replaced with a republican form of government. Unfortunately for the AIA, the fairly pro-AIA monarch was replaced with a more hostile figure, and little seems to be getting done in the way of liberalizing Marche Noir. The nation also has poor relations with it's neighbor, Brasilistan.
San Vitenzo: A socialist ally of East Lebatuck, San Vitenzo is located just off the shores of the United Federation, and has been used by East Lebatuck as a glorified weapons platform, to threaten the United Federation. Of course now days, that is mostly behind them, and they primarily sell cigars, and fine coffee.
