The year is 2021, AV (Annus Violaceus), and the world remains tense... most of the world, that is. A potential exception is the AIA, a humble union of nations. Outsiders often see the AIA as one entity, as the nations within it are usually so small that they are simply microstates in the eyes of the United Federation, or Dàguó. Flying under the radar has it's advantages. The nations of the AIA mostly only concern themselves with each other, and internal debates, with debates discussing the United Federation, or Dàguó being more theoretical than anything else.
The AIA was founded in the 1970s AV, when many islands, and atolls which share an archipelago united together in order to avoid being turned into glorified United Federation or East Lebatuck military bases, like San Vitenzo was. The AIA has remained mostly peaceful since it's founding, as they have little to fight over.
